This report is an excerpt and modification taken from John Halloran's excellent Astro Deluxe Report Writer program. As such, it treats the Concordance as though it were a person who would be experiencing the transits spoken of herein. It should be read with this in mind and interpreted as though it were applying to the spirit of the Harmonic Concordance. In spite of this limitation, the general sense of the day still comes through, if one allows it to do so. SOLAR RETURN ANNUAL REPORT Once each year, the Sun returns to the exact position that it held at the time of your birth. This report outlines the astrological influences on the year ahead for the positions of the planets at the precise time of your annual solar return. The report delineates the influence of the Ascendant, Midheaven, Sun, Moon, and each of the nine planets as they interact with each other and with the Houses of the horoscope. What is a Solar Return? Introduction You have certainly heard the expression "Many happy returns!" - a reference to the annual cycle that begins at your date of birth. The astrological Solar Return is a chart cast for the moment when the Sun returns to the exact position it held in your the Concordance horoscope. Each year the Solar Return marks the start of your personal New Year, and astrologers look to the Solar Return horoscope to see what events and issues await you in the year ahead. Astrologers have proposed many methods for interpreting the Solar Return chart. This report follows the method of Alexandre Volguine (1903-1976), a French astrologer who, in 1937, first published his 15 years of research on Returns. Until his death in 1976, Volguine continued to update his study of Returns in subsequent editions of his classic text, "LA TECHNIQUE DES REVOLUTIONS SOLAIRES". This report is based on a Return chart cast for Greenwich, UK, when the Sun will return to its position in the Harmonic Concordance chart of November 9, 2003. Because we insert an extra day into the calendar every four years during the leap year, this Solar Return occurs on the before the calendar "birthday." According to the astrological theory of Solar Returns, the the Concordance chart represents a basic blueprint of the individual (similar to the DNA within the nucleus of the cell) and the Return chart reveals the annual renewal or reactivation of the the Concordance chart as measured against both the ongoing movement of the planets and the newly generated set of House cusps at the time the individual's the Concordance Sun is "reborn" at the annual (SR) birthday. A key feature of Return chart interpretation involves studying the relationship between the annual Return Houses and the birth chart Houses.
Return Ascendant in the Concordance 3rd House The Return Ascendant in the 3rd House of the Concordance chart relates to mental work, communication, news and announcements. The Return Ascendant-Descendant axis also highlights 9th House matters such as religious and philosophical concerns, ethical issues, higher education, legal concerns, publishing, broadcasting, forecasting, flying, long-distance travel, and dealings with foreigners. Applying these comments to the Anniversary, one may see that the 3rd/9th house axis is most relevant to the purpose of an anniversary celebration of an event such as the Concordance was. The Return Midheaven in the Concordance 12th House The Return Midheaven reveals the actions and circumstances that will be most visible to others. In the Concordance 12th House, the Return's Midheaven highlights the benefits of quiet contemplation in the pursuit of spiritual truths. The Return Moon conjunct the Concordance Mars The Return Moon is very active at the Anniversary. Conjunct to the Concordance Mars, it stirs the passions and aggressive instincts and the emotions run high. If you will recall, the Concordance Mars was in Pisces, and was therefore somewhat of a "spiritual warrior." With the Moon in a partile (exact) conjunction to its position, that feeling of being the spiritual warrior is roused once again. The Return Moon trine the Concordance Saturn With the Moon also harmoniously aspecting the Concordance Saturn, committed relationships may proceed smoothly. Responsibilities toward others are balanced with emotional needs. The Return Moon square the Concordance Venus Stressful Moon/Venus contacts usually point to some type of strong emotions. Celebrants ought to beware of overindulgence and maudlin sentimentality and celebrate the Anniversary instead as a time of Peace, Love, Unity Joy and Healing. The Return Moon opposes the Concordance Jupiter This is a period of heightened emotionality. Overindulgence can lead to difficulties related to excess. Here Mars is making a big push, as it is the "action planet" to propel the message of the Concordance out to a mass audience and stimulates all manners of mental effort and communication, all of which leaves a positive impression on those who hear the message. Success comes through the use of speaking skills, enterprising spirit, quick thinking, and determination. The Return Jupiter trine the Concordance Moon This aspect expands emotional lives. We feel loved and cared for by others and joyful events occur. It is one of the most pleasant of all of the transits. Optimism runs high and there are strong feelings for all loved ones as the transits is favorable for small, intimate gatherings around home and hearth.
