The Eclipse Timing for
Concordance II Observations

As for the timing of the Eclipse, here's what astronomer Fred Espenak says about the details:

"The last eclipse of the year is another total lunar eclipse.  This time, the event will be well placed for North Americans.  The eclipse occurs at the ascending node of Luna's orbit in southern Aries. Since the Moon is 5.6 days shy of apogee, it will appear 7% smaller (= 30.6 arc-minutes) than it was during May's eclipse.  The Moon's trajectory takes it deep into the northern umbral shadow resulting in a total eclipse which lasts 1 hour 21 minutes.  At mid-totality, the Moon's southern limb is a mere 0.7 arc-minutes from the umbra's centre.  In contrast, the northern limb is 9.5 arc-minutes from the umbra's edge and 31.3 arc-minutes from its centre.  Since different parts of the Moon will probe radically different portions of Earth's umbral shadow, a large variation in shadow brightness can be expected.  The totally eclipsed Moon will appear to have a bright rim along its northern edge…

The penumbral phase of October's eclipse begins at 00:06 UT, but most observers will not be able to visually detect the shadow until about 00:45 UT. A timetable for the major phases of the eclipse is as follows:

Penumbral Eclipse Begins:   00:05:35 UT                    [Penumbral Eclipse Begins:   01:05:35 BST]
Partial Eclipse Begins:   01:14:25 UT                              [Partial Eclipse Begins:   02:14:25 BST]
Total Eclipse Begins: 02:23:28 UT [Total Eclipse Begins: 03:23:28 BST]
Greatest Eclipse: 03:04:06 UT [Greatest Eclipse: 04:04:06 BST]
Total Eclipse Ends:   03:44:43 UT                                    [Total Eclipse Ends:   04:44:43 BST]
Partial Eclipse Ends: 04:53:44 UT [Partial Eclipse Ends: 05:53:44 BST]
Penumbral Eclipse Ends: 06:02:44 UT [Penumbral Eclipse Ends: 07:02:44 BST]

N.B.  Universal Time does not change for daylight time.  Espenak's times here are not the clock times that will be operative for those in Summer (Daylight) time zones (see list at right). That means that his 04:04:06 Universal Time for the peak of the eclipse will translate to 03:04:06, BST on the 28th.  A Locally observable eclipse at any Longitude will occur at the corresponding clock time.  [For instance, in Clearwater, Florida, where we will be to honor its energies, the eclipse will begin to peak at 10:23:28, reach totality at 11:04:06, pass out of totality at 11:44:43, and be finished completely at 12:53:44 am, EDT.]

Therefore, in order to raise the One Voice of common intent in the same "moment," we suggest that ceremonies begin about 30 minutes before the hour of the eclipse maximum in your specific time zone (see the Time Zone Co-ordination List below).  The peak of ceremonial intention would best be expressed at 4 minutes after the hour.  Your Observation might then continue until 44 minutes after the hour or until time permits.   We feel that this will insure the maximum “Voice” for our Prayers of Conscious Intent and ask that you coordinate your efforts so that you may join with hundreds of thousands of others world wide during this event.
