Our Journey into Wholeness
The
ancient Chinese sage, Lao Tzu once said that a journey of a thousand miles
begins with the first step. Sometimes,
though, it’s difficult to perceive when we tread that first step.
And so it was for me on 3 May 1998. On
that gentle Spring afternoon I received the psychic guidance which would
change my life. Loud and very
clear, I was given the seemingly innocuous message to “go to Silbury
Hill tomorrow.”
The
same age as the Great Pyramid at Giza, Silbury Hill is the greatest
monumental mound in Europe. For
many sensitives, it is the energetic nexus at the heart of Avebury’s
sacred landscape, my home in England for the last few years. I had been
drawn to live the Avebury landscape three years before by a combination of
the power of the sacred landscape and the crop circle phenomenon.
I wanted to experience and understand why and how these
‘temporary temples’ as researcher Karen Douglas calls them, were
created. The mystery of their creation remains an enigma even today as
I write these words.
The
next morning, I popped into the village shop in Avebury, whose manager
asked whether I’d seen the latest crop circle, which had arrived
overnight – at Silbury. The
connection with my psychic message was clear and driving to Silbury, I
felt a quiet sense of anticipation.
And
what a beautiful morning! The
bright blue sky was mirrored in the water laked around the Hill and as I
approached, I saw the crop circle in the field of golden oil-seed rape
opposite. A second psychic
message, as loud and clear as the first, guided me, not to enter the crop
circle, but to climb to the top of the Hill.
On the summit of the Hill, as I settled down to connect
energetically, I could see the full loveliness of the crop circle beneath
me. Nearly two hundred feet
across, the pattern was composed of an inner and outer circle, joined I
found out later, by thirty-three ‘flames.’ It was a miracle created from a living and unharmed crop.
Attuning
myself to Silbury Hill and the golden disc below, I felt a sense of deep
peace as though all my questions had been answered but that I didn’t
understand what those questions had been! That enigma remained as the
third psychic message came, for me to walk down the Hill, not by the
eroded path but to tread a solar-wise spiral path. When I reached home, in
the throes of a busy day, my experience gently faded.
Later
that week, I was co-teaching a workshop with Aluna Joy Yaxk’in an
American teacher of Mayan wisdom, who told us of a special place in Peru.
The slide she showed was of a huge red rock with its vertical face
sculpted with two upright channels and a human sized ‘door’ carved
into the centre. As she
described this as the portal of Amaru Muru, I felt a profound heart
connection to this place I had never before seen in this life. It was near Lake Titicaca in Peru, a country I had not
visited, nor at that time had the money to visit.
Again, I was busy and the connection became a memory.
Two
weeks later, I had been asked to teach a short workshop in the Avebury
landscape with an American group. After
a two hour session, which stretched to three hours, their leader, a
wonderful carer called John Buzenberg who I only met for the first time
that day, told me that they had enjoyed the workshop so much – would I
teach with him in Peru? It
seemed I was destined to visit Peru.
Another
week passed and I received a call from someone I knew who was leaving with
another group to explore the Tarim Basin of far western China.
He called to ask whether I could tune in and receive any guidance
for him concerning their journey. When
I did so, I received three messages.
The third message was that they would connect with a ‘golden
disc.’ When I called to
give him the messages, I discovered that they had already left.
On his return, he told me that the first two messages had been
borne out and that they had connected with an etheric golden disc at a
place called Rawak in the far west of China.
His powerful experience of the disc was that it vibrated with the
energies of unconditional love and that he had found its energies
remaining within him aiding his work as a healer.
In
January of the following year I co-organised a group journey to Egypt.
Whilst we were based at Luxor we had arranged a visit to Abydos,
whose ancient and mysterious underground temple, the Oseirion, has carved
on its massive granite pillars, representations of the geometry called the
Flower of Life.
As
I woke that morning, the words “wear a swimsuit today” came into my
mind. Knowing that we were
heading into the desert, I just shrugged and dressed as usual.
Big mistake! When we
arrived at Abydos I headed for the inner sanctum of Osiris, a small room
within the temple of Seti. I
to ask for guidance and whatever inner tuition or initiation I needed at
that time. A veil suddenly
seemed to come over my eyes and as I emerged into the bright sunlight, I
began to weep.
Still
veiled and misted through my tears, I climbed down the steps of the
Oseirion and saw that at this time of year, the Nile waters shallowly
covered its floor. Feeling a
powerful urge to walk into its inner sanctum, I took my shoes off, rolled
up my jeans, took two steps and fell into a thirty-five foot shaft filled
with water! As I sunk below the water, I remember feeling no panic; I
knew it was my initiation.
The
next moment, I was sitting back on the steps soaking wet – with no
recollection how I had emerged from the deep, vertical sided shaft!
Between laughing and crying, I appreciated how my early morning
voice had tried to save me from the next few hours of wet underwear.
Later that day and over the next three days, I also was shocked to
realise that my Abydos experience had spontaneously raised my kundulini
energy. Some time later, I
also discovered that the temple initiation of Osiris had been by baptism
in water. Thank you Osiris.
In
October, on the heels of the powerful lunar and solar eclipses of 28th
July and 11th August 1999, I embarked upon the next of
my sacred journeys, to Peru. It
was magical!
At
Lake Titicaca, we met Jorge Delgado, the discoverer of the portal of Amaru
Muru, who talked to the group about his discovery. He told us of the legend of Lord Amaru and his companion,
Lady Amara, Lemurian elders who had taken a ‘Solar Disc’ to Lake
Titicaca. At the time of the
Inkans - the children of the Sun, it had been taken to Cuzco, the physical
and energetic centre of the Inka empire.
There it had remained in the Corocancha, or house of the Sun, until
the priests had spirited it back to Lake Titicaca before the fall of the
their empire to the Spanish conquistadors.
While at the portal I again felt the deep connection I first felt
the year before and half a world away.
Our
final destination was to a reed island floating on the Lake where we held
a group meditation to connect
with the Solar Disc. As I
opened myself, I felt an over-powering sense of unconditional love.
For the first time in my life, I felt home. My heart felt as though it had cracked open and I wept with a
remembering beyond joy and sorrow.
By
March of the new millennium, the warp and weft of an incredible tapestry
had begun to weave itself. I
knew that Jorge had indeed connected with the energies of a Lemurian Solar
Disc. My understanding was
now however, that the Disc at Lake Titicaca was only one of twelve
positioned around the Earth.
Energetically
taking the form of a Merkaba consciousness field, the Discs exist
variously at physical and supra-physical energy levels.
They are multi-dimensional and act as ‘moderators, modulators and
facilitators of consciousness.’ They
connect with the etheric planetary grid which, due to its highest
vibration of Unity consciousness, some have called the Christ
Consciousness grid. This
geometric grid is basically do-decahedral in form, each of its twelve
pentagonal faces being anchored energetically by one of the Discs.
At this time, they are facilitating our collective awakening from
the amnesia of the illusion of separation, helping us to re-member who we
really are and our deepest soul connection with All That Is.
I
also discovered that the Discs are each located within one of the twelve
faces of the grid and that they are energetically centred at Table
Mountain in South Africa, Alaska, Australia, New Zealand, Easter Island,
Antarctica, Hawaii and in the southern Indian Ocean. Together with the
overwhelming spiritual triggering of the Solar Disc at Lake Titicaca, I
had integrated my initial and fleeting connections with three of the other
Discs during my time alone and realised their presence at Silbury Hill,
Rawak in western China and Abydos. Knowledge
of the remaining eight came over time and was clearly meant to be a
co-creative effort involving many others in our collective journey.
My
immediate guidance was clear and unequivocal – I was to offer journeys
to connect with and manifest the healing energies of each of the Discs,
which would then in turn support individual and collective shifts of
awareness I was
also guided with a very specific time-frame to complete these twelve
healing pilgrimages – “by early November 2003.”
For good measure, we were to “turn the thirteenth master key at
Avebury on the 23rd December 2003.”
My guidance was to connect with three Discs during 2001, with four
during 2002 and with the remaining five in 2003, culminating at the Disc
where it all began – at Silbury Hill in early November.
At that time, I had no conscious awareness of why these timings
were important. We were to
complete the first three journeys before that understanding would be
gifted.
Our
first journey was to Egypt in February 2001.
It was the perfect journey to commence our global odyssey.
Connecting with the first Solar Disc at Abydos, we worked with my
early sense that the twelve Discs resonated with an expanded twelve-chakra
system of the human energy field. This
reflected the esoteric principles taught by Thoth, that the microcosm is
reflected in the macrocosm; ‘as above, so below’.
As
we journeyed, we explored a
group process relating to earlier Egyptian lives. Whether ‘real’ or
‘metaphorical,’ the process ]enabled us to experience archetypal
themes of judgment, inclusion and exclusion and to integrate our inner
shadow.
My
next journey, to Africa in June of 2001,
coincided with a total solar eclipse on the solstice of 21st
June which connected with the activation of the Solar
Disc. Africa for many,
embodies the root chakra energy of the planet. With others,
I had been working with the energies of the great Rift Valley, the
geological rupture in the Earth, which extends from southern Africa,
northerly through the centre of the continent, to Egypt and onto Israel
and Jordan. We had gained an
understanding that this vast geological fault-line holds the ‘rifted’
energetic history of our human lineage.
The
earliest human remains have been discovered at Olduvai Gorge in the heart
of the Rift. The spiritual
seed-point at the time of the pharaoh Akhenaten in Egypt had led to
Judaism, Christianity and Islam and their subsequent religious rifts.
Rwanda, geographically at the center of the Rift had, for the past
ten years, been enmeshed in tribal genocide and by the use of rape as a
weapon of war by HIV positive soldiers, been an embodiment of therift
between male and female. And Zimbabwe, on the intersection of the path of
totality of this coming eclipse and the Rift was continuing to express
deep racial tensions between black and white.
It
was only after receiving guidance that the second Disc is at Table
Mountain, that I realised that it ‘holds’ the southern pole of these
Rift energies and that the Egyptian Disc at Abydos holds the northern
pole. Activating both,
supported by the energies of the solar eclipse, would open the portal of
an opportunity to release the energetic imprint of our ‘rifted’
heritage and to support the healing of our collective root chakra.
Arriving
back in England, before travelling onto China, I reflected how the
unconditionally loving energies of the Discs facilitated our ‘healing’
into wholeness. I began to sense how this would involve the re-membering
of who we really are – individually and collectively – by accessing
our human, extra-terrestrial and intra-terrestrial heritage.
Accessing
our extra-terrestrial heritage emerged as the theme of our journey to
China. From long before we
arrived, I felt the guiding presence of Quan Yin, the Chinese goddess of
compassion, overlighting our journey.
We travelled from Beijing, to the furthest west of China to connect
with the Soular Disc at Rawak and then to Xian.
Sumerian
myths, many thousands of years old, refer to a race of extra-terrestrial
reptilian beings, the Annunaki, arriving on Earth and their subsequent
genetic modification of hominids and creation of modern humans.
The myths refer to two brothers, Enki and Enlil as having opposing
agendas for this modification. Enlil’s agenda was the creation of a
slave race. Enki’s was to manifest the enormous potential embodied in
the hybrid human-Annunaki being – including the physical embodiment of
emotion, which we humans fully express and which, it appears the Annunaki
cannot. This energetic as
well as physical dynamic also helps to explain the deep rift within our
psyche. Part of us knows we
are divine beings, whilst our deep fears and feeling of worthlessness so
often disempower us. The
understanding which emerged during our journey and our connection with the
Soular Disc indicated that now is the time, not only for us to perceive
our ‘hidden’ history, but to recognise that we now have the
opportunity to reconcile the Enki and Enlil energies within us.
As
if to complete the next stage of our understanding of what was coming, the
reasons why I had been guided to complete the journeys and to ‘turn the
master key’ in November and December 2003, appeared. My
friend Claire called to ask whether I’d heard of the
Harmonic Concordance, an astronomical and astrological alignment that
astrologer John Mirehiel had first identified and which astrologers and
mystics were perceiving as a collective opportunity to manifest
unconditional love on Earth. The
alignment is in the shape of a Star of David.
In three-dimensions, this shape geometrically becomes a
star-tetrahedron, a primary field of consciousness of human beings,
planets and galaxies. Claire
then told me that this unique alignment, portending my vision of our work
with the Soular Disc journeys, would culminate in the early morning of 9th
November 2003, the very time I had been guided to complete the twelfth
journey!
Within
a few days of Claire’s
call, I received a metaphysical magazine from the US. Turning without thought to the centre pages, two short
articles faced me. The first
was about the twelfth planet and how it had been prophesied that it would
be re-discovered in late 2002. The
second was an increasing view by mystics that the Mayan end-time – which
is NOT the end of the world but a time of transformation – would take
place, not on the 23rd December 2012 as had previously been
prophesied, but the same date in 2003.
This was the second date I had been given - to ‘turn the master
key’.
Guidance
continued to flow for those who had shared the journeys and our collective
understanding continued to deepen. My early guidance that the human energy
field incorporates twelve and not the traditional seven chakras, took on a
clearer perspective. Many spiritual and metaphysical traditions stress the
importance of twelve around one – or in effect the twelve together
becoming the thirteenth whole. Images of wholeness are replete with the
symbology of twelve into thirteen. Our human exploration of consciousness
has experienced a period of collective amnesia during which our energetic
access to the higher vibrations of our soular heritage have been limited.
The seven chakras connect our personality-based energy field whose role is
to experience the richness of polarity-based consciousness as an
individual. The eighth and higher chakras expand this field beyond our
human personality and progressively connect us with our soular memory and
awareness and with All That is. The eighth chakra, which is becoming known
as the Universal Heart chakra is the portal to these higher connections.
On a collective level, it is our increasing resonance with this eighth
chakra, which we are experiencing as the One Heart.
The
conscious universe has been described as a hologram, energetically
relating to itself at all scales and levels of experience. Each solar –
or soular system is a self-relating hologram within which, individual and
collective soul experience is played out. It is no accident that ancient
astrologers divided the sky into the twelve-fold zodiac. The solar and
planetary bodies of our soular system also reflect this harmonic, which in
a fascinating collective synchronicity, we are only now becoming aware of.
As we progressively access our twelve chakra energy field, our journey
into wholeness is also a journey for our entire soular system - supported
by the unconditionally loving energies of the Solar Discs, which with
friend Emma’s insight, we re-named
Soular Discs.
The
journeys for 2002 continued our inner work, each uniquely bringing forward
opportunities for inner healing and transformation. My friend, Renae who had
journeyed to Egypt and I were jointly guided to the
energetic presence of the next Disc at Akutan, a remote island in the
Aleutian chain, which stretches from Alaska to Siberia.
The
story of the Aleutian people is one of enormous cultural loss.
For nine thousand years, their fore-fathers had enjoyed a naturally
rich life on the islands. At the juncture of the Bering Sea and the Pacific Ocean, they
are the center some of the most prolific fishing grounds on Earth.
Until the Russian traders came in the seventeenth century, the
islanders prospered. As has
been the story so often between the meetings of ‘developed’ and
indigenous peoples, within a few generations, the Aleutian culture and
people were all but destroyed. On
Akutan itself, the deliberate destruction of the islanders’ boats, their
only means of hunting food, starved them to death.
By
World War II, the remaining islanders were forced off their lands by the
U.S. military following a brief Japanese incursion.
When they were allowed to return, six years later, they found their
homes wrecked. Only now, as
Larry Merculieff, an Aleutian Elder of part Russian lineage told us, was
there being birthed a resurgence of Aleutian culture and reconciliation
with the Russians and Japanese. The
focus of our healing pilgrimage and work with the Disc had been revealed.
Ten
day after returning from Alaska, my beloved Tony and I were married.
Two more weeks saw us joining our group for the fifth Soular Disc
journey to Peru – our honeymoon shared with twenty-four other people!
Returning
to Peru felt wonderful. Our
connection with the portal of Amaru Muru and the Soular Disc was at the
culmination of our journey. Since
my last visit, people had begun to call the portal, the Peruvian stargate.
As
I knelt and placed my forehead on the portal’s door, I immediately
passed through and energetically entered an incredible, bright landscape.
I recognised and entered a structure called the Temple of
Illumination. Feeling this
energy, I realised that the Peruvian stargate is a portal of the One
Heart.
In
November, a small group of us met in Australia for our combined journeys
there and onto New Zealand. Having
been guided two years before, that the Soular Disc was at the sacred site
of Kata Tjuta, we arranged to spend the whole day there. This amazing geological formation, in the red heart of
Australia, geomantically connects with the world famous monolith of Uluru.
We also realised that there is a third huge natural monolith, Attila,
which is in a straight alignment with both Kata Tjuta and Uluru.
The
intention of our dawn ceremony the next morning was to connect the
energies of this trinity, which holds the cosmic energies of male, female
and child – and reflects the same trinity energies as the Giza pyramids
on the other side of the world. This
trinity is at the heart of many spiritual and metaphysical traditions.
When we talk metaphysically about ‘balance’ we most often
perceive it as that of the male and female principles that pervade the
Cosmos – the yin and yang of Taoist teachings.
Yet I feel that the child needs to be an equal partner in our inner
and outer healing. By hearing
the voices of our children and their innocent wisdom, we encourage them
teach us to be ever more open-hearted.
For
the New Zealand journey, we were six – and the first women-only journey.
We met geomancers Gary Cook and Michael Fleck who took us to Te
Miringa – the Temple of the Four Winds.
Our attunement there unexpectedly brought forward the vision of the
sacrifice of a young girl by an older man, attempting to re-balance the
fertility energies of the place. We felt that the site is cosmically connected to the constellation
of Orion and the Pleiades. An aboriginal legend tells of the stalking by
Orion of the youngest of the sisters of the Pleiades - in greek legend
also, the Seven Sisters. We compassionately shared the ways in which the
relationship and trust between men and women had been unbalanced by
predatory behaviour and a lack of acknowledgement and openness on both
sides. When we later arrived to connect with the seventh Soular Disc
on the south Island, we were overjoyed to be joined by Rona - our seventh
sister - a gentle validation of our insight and support for the healing of
this trust.
I
feel that both individually and collectively, we are no longer able to sit
on the fence and pretend that we are not part of an inter-connected whole.
Our choices, it seems to me, are clear.
We choose love or we choose fear.
The consistency of my guidance is that we have incredible resources
to call upon to manifest what can be a collective manifestation of
unconditional love on Earth. But
this requires our commitment to our own healing, from which collective
healing can be birthed.
The
remaining Soular Disc journeys in 2003 are to complete our three-year
global pilgrimage. From the
beginning, the vision has been that our individual and group healing would
ripple out and support our collective process - that the few of us able to
physically connect with the discs were the representatives of the many. Following New Zealand, I feel that the remaining journeys,
whilst offering ongoing facilitation for personal transformation will more
and more bring forward the opportunities for us to be the channels for
collective and archetypal healing also.
We are all part of the journey home and each and every one of us, I
believe, has chosen to incarnate at this time to play our unique role.
As
we dance the path together from Chile and Easter Island, to Hawaii, onto
Madagascar and finally back to where it all began at Silbury Hill at the
time of the Harmonic Concordance, I am reminded of the following words,
which were given to me in the midst of the Avebury landscape one beautiful
morning;
In
the commonality of our humanity, we are all ordinary
In the commonality of our divinity, we are all extraordinary
And
so we are.
Part II
Soular Disc Journey to Chile and
Rapa Nui (Easter Island)
In
talking with friends who had been on other Soular Disc journeys, and with
Johnny Mirehiel the astrologer and ‘father’ of the Harmonic
Concordance, a feeling of foreboding began to grow.
A sense of intensity and challenge, which I had not encountered
before, surrounded this trip. What
seemed to be promised through the guidance we received, was a profound
connection with the essence of the Divine Female, but through encounters
that would be, personally, very challenging.
In
the days just before embarking on this next leg of the Soular Disc
Journey, in the darkest hours of the night, fear gripped me. In my visions, I was standing on a shoreline looking out into
the vastness of the surrounding ocean.
Then, off in the distance, I saw a huge tidal wave, hundreds of
feet high, inexorably rushing towards me.
As the wave bore down on me, I anguished for all that I would lose,
and suddenly I knew that my feeling of sadness at the impending separation
arose from fear. Realising
fear as the source of my sadness, I became instantly aware of it as an
illusion; that there is no separation – ever!
The wave swelled forward but now I embraced it and felt myself
become one with it.
Although
I had realised that perhaps no one else might go on this journey with my,
guidance had been very clear and strong: if necessary, I was to go alone.
My guidance had also made it clear that the energy the
multi-dimensional Soular Discs embody required a physical ‘seed’
point, which I was to physically manifest through offering unconditionally
loving energies. What I didn’t understand was how the connection was to
be made, physically, to Antarctica, when my long-standing guidance had
indicated that it would be OK for me to be in Chile for the Activation,
precluding my needing to travel to Antarctica itself.
Then,
a week before I was scheduled to leave, Anita emailed me to say that she
had been guided to come with me. It
was then that she told me that she had been to Antarctica some years
before. Immediately, I knew
why it was OK to activate this Disc from Chile – Anita would be acting
as the physical bridge by virtue of her previous, albeit unknown
connection, with the very part of Antarctica where my guidance had clearly
given as the location of the Antarctica Disc; just under the ice sheet
almost directly south of Tierra del Fuego!
Arriving in Santiago I took a taxi to my hotel.
Along the way, we passed the long line of a peace march protesting
the imminent war in Iraq. Before leaving England, I had written the following:
Each
Soular Disc journey is a healing pilgrimage, offering an opportunity to
co-create healing on individual, collective and archetypal levels.
On collective and geomantic levels, we may perceive Antarctica as
holding the essence of ice-soulation.
Such isolation within our human family has separated us from each
other, nation, creed and colour, for millennia.
As we open our hearts, we can melt the ice and allow the water of
emotional freedom to flow.
The
healing of the ice-soulation between us, I believe, enables the divine
female essence, powerfully present on Easter Island, to connect with,
balance and free the fear patterning of the predominantly male energies
in the nexus of the Middle East.
On collective and geomantic levels, we may perceive Antarctica as
holding the essence of ice-soulation.
Such isolation within our human family, has separated us from each
other, nation, creed and colour, for millennia. As we open our hearts, we can melt the ice and allow the
water of emotional freedom to flow.
As sunset on March 8th approached,
we sat on a park bench in the Parque de Forestal. Behind us, an ancient tree hugged the ground and the sound of
children’s laughter drifted to us from a nearby playground.
As we attuned to the energies of the Disc, I envisioned the
incredible ice-green depths of the Antarctic Ocean.
With my inner vision I saw the Soular Disc, a beautiful lens of
white gold light, suspended in the water.
I focused my consciousness in my universal heart chakra and
surrendered, allowing all ice-soulation to melt away.
Gently and effortlessly, as I felt myself freed from the
imprisonment of my own making, I saw the Disc rise and break through the
ice. As it did so, a vertical
column of light radiated from each facet of the Disc as it soared high
into the sky and then down into the ocean’s depths.
The next day, I settled into my seat as our plane took off for the five
and a half hour flight. Almost
immediately, I felt a surge of anger rise up through me.
As I asked myself what this powerful feeling was all about, I saw
with my inner vision, first one and then a second scenario.
In both cases, I had taken decisions, which had resulted in
difficult and painful outcomes, for others and myself.
I ‘thought’ I’d already forgiven and released the pain of
these scenarios, but clearly my anger was giving me a different message.
Over the next hour, I continued to sit with the anger, allowing it
to swirl within and around me. Finally,
it felt that my emotion paused for breath.
Quietly such that I could hardly hear, a small inner voice said,
‘you heard but didn’t listen.’
Understanding dawned on me. I
remembered how in each scenario, my inner voice had told me not to go
ahead with what I then did do – with all the pain that ensued.
My initial anger, long since dissipated and forgiven, had been
directed at others and at myself for being ‘stupid’.
What I’d been unable to acknowledge and forgive was that I had
heard my inner guidance and then not listened to it – ignored it.
With that awareness, I suddenly felt an overwhelming compassion and
true forgiveness flowed through me, unforced and heart-felt.
I knew that this gift of personal healing was somehow connected
with the work we would do on Rapa Nui; the need to both hear and listen
– to speak and act with the loving truth of our inner voice.
Anita and I had two days before the dawn connection with the Soular Disc
on the 12th. The afternoon of
the 10th was balmy with a slight breeze as we arrived with a small group
at the volcanic crater of Rano Kau at the southern tip of the triangular
island. As we stepped toward
the rim of the crater, we looked at each other, clearly both feeling and
knowing that this is where we would experience the Soular Disc’s
energies at their most powerful. The
crater, created by the fiery outpouring of lava from deep within the Earth
formed a grail for the rainwater, vital to the islanders and I was
reminded of the repeating energetic mandala for the presence of every
Disc, the elements of Fire and Water.
As I looked into the vastness of the southern Ocean towards
Antarctica, I heard on the wind coming from there, ‘hear our voices,
hear our voices’. We went
on to the ceremonial village further around the crater at its southernmost
point to find that the name of the village, Orongo, means ‘listen’!
The next morning we set out on a guided tour and learned the history of
the island. The enormous and
enigmatic statues, or moai, for which the island is famous, are the
“aringa ora” or living countenance of specified ancestors
and the greatest legacy of a complex and sophisticated culture.
Recent research has shown that the creation and moving of the moai
and the wood it consumed however, ultimately depleted all the trees on the
island and brought the islanders close to destruction.
As I stood in front of the imposing array of moai at Tongariki, I
began to hear the voices of the ancestors.
Throughout that day, around the island, voice after voice told me
their story. As I acknowledged and honoured their experiences, I asked
what I could do to help them heal what I felt was a profound grief.
This is the story they told me;
Rapa Nui was known following early exploratory voyagers and four great
catamarans had braved the long journey to its rocky coasts, well supplied
to colonise this remote island. For
many generations thereafter, the bounty of the sea, land and air had
gifted the islanders with abundant lives.
One year however, the climate changed; the fishing grounds were
depleted and crops failed. The
next year, there was no respite and many of the islanders slid into fear. There were some however, who heard their inner voices
encouraging them to trust and to find different ways of surviving through
this time. The voices of fear
however, were loud and it was those to which the community listened.
Statues of the ancestors began to be raised, to intercede with the
gods who were sending this catastrophe.
When conditions didn’t improve, the voices of fear insisted that
the statues weren’t big enough, that the ancestral powers embodied in
the moai were insufficient. Bigger
and then bigger statues were needed, at an ever-increasing cost to the
fragile resources on the island. When
conditions eventually eased, the continuing voices of fear, spoke saying
that only by raising more and still larger statues could a future
catastrophe be averted. So
resources became more and more depleted, until the last tree was felled
and the islanders were unable even to build canoes.
Fear had brought them to the brink of the destruction they so
feared.
The ancestors grief in hearing but not listening to the guidance of
their inner voices, reflected my own and I grieved with them, releasing
again the pain and embracing the understanding.
My own inner experience of the tidal wave
returned that day too as Teringa, our guide, told us of the tidal waves
which had from time to time swept over the island.
I now realised that this has been a resonant memory I shared with
the ancestors, which now helped me to understand and empathise with the
depth of their fear and to support them and
Rapa Nui’s energetic imprint to heal.
Early the next morning Anita and I settled down on the inner slope of
Rono Kau’s crater and we attuned ourselves to our purpose.
As I surrendered myself to being a channel for the loving energy of
the Soular Disc brief flashes of the memories of the last few days played
across my mind’s eye. I saw
and was grateful that my inner work even before leaving home, in Santiago,
on the flight to the island and the previous day had prepared me for this
connection. Anita and I
joined others around the world, in opening ourselves to the Divine Female
presence within every one of us. My
only intention was to be a clear channel to hear and listen to Her voice
in my own life. Thirteen
minutes later as the Rainbow Bridge meditation concluded, I opened my eyes
to see the sun just breaking over the rim of the crater and flooding it
with a white-gold glory. Anita
and I were too overcome to do much more than hug each other in joy and
gratitude.
On arriving back in England and sharing the experiences of others who
had taken part in the Rainbow Bridge, it seems that a number of us had
multi-channelled a twin aspect of the Divine Female. In summary, this seems to represent the receptive aspect of
hearing and listening to our inner voice, the essence of blue water,
forming a whole-hearted balance with the red creative energy of fire in
then being willing then to speak and enact our truth.
Individually and collectively, our inner hearing is becoming ever
stronger. Our choice and our
challenge is now not only to listen to it but to then be willing to speak
and enact that deep knowingness with unconditional love.
